A new commercial redevelopment in Rugby could support around 50 jobs if plans to regenerate a former industrial site are approved.<\/p>\n
Warwickshire Property & Development Group (WPDG) has submitted a full planning application to Rugby Borough Council for the redevelopment of the former Bloxham Centre on Somers Road.<\/p>\n
The proposal would replace the existing buildings with around 21,350 sq ft of commercial space, split into three units ranging from 5,350 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft.<\/p>\n
The development is intended to provide flexible space for small and medium-sized businesses, with the aim of supporting local expansion and encouraging firms to stay within the county.<\/p>\n
If approved, it would be WPDG\u2019s first scheme in Rugby and its third commercial project overall since the organisation was established in 2021 by Warwickshire County Council.<\/p>\n
WPDG\u2019s remit is to bring forward development on council-owned land and assets to support wider economic activity, including commercial buildings and mineral rights.<\/p>\n
Previous projects include a fully occupied site at Sucham Park in Southam, with further work underway at Greville Business Park near Warwick and Leamington Spa.<\/p>\n
Plans for the Rugby site include the demolition of the existing Bloxham Centre buildings, along with 29 car parking spaces and six electric vehicle charging points.<\/p>\n
