Redical, the real estate owner and operator of some of the UK’s premier retail destinations, has made two senior appointments to its Merry Hill team.

Alistair Winning joins Redical as leasing manager for Merry Hill, having spent the past four years as an asset manager with Sovereign Centros, where he was directly involved in the management and leasing of the West Midlands destination.

His hands-on experience with the centre brings immediate continuity and deep market knowledge to Redical’s leasing function as it builds on its position as the premium prime pitch in the Midlands.

He will be responsible for driving Redical’s leasing strategy at the destination, ensuring it is delivering desirable and transformational brands across retail, hospitality and leisure.

""

Fraser Jefferis

Joining Winning is Fraser Jefferis who takes up the role of asset manager for Merry Hill, bringing significant retail and property expertise to the position.

He joins from JLL, where he served as Director of Property & Asset Management, and previously held a senior role at Hammerson as property manager for Birmingham’s Bullring & Grand Central, one of the UK’s most prominent retail destinations.

His experience across major city-centre and out-of-town assets perfectly places him to drive performance at Redical’s Merry Hill.

Jefferis will be a key component of the day-to-day management of the asset, working as part of the centre team to accelerate growth and positive performance.

Mikko Syrjanen, co-founder of Redical said: “Alistair and Fraser are exactly the calibre of people we were looking for as we establish our team at Merry Hill. Alistair’s prior involvement with the centre is a genuine asset, as he understands the market, the occupier mix and the opportunities, whilst Fraser brings a strong track record across major retail destinations in the region and beyond. Together, they give Merry Hill a strong foundation to deliver Redical’s vision for the destination.”

Orbit has appointed Jeanette Hodges as regeneration and asset management director, as it reaffirms its commitment to regeneration and the long-term sustainability of its homes and communities.

Hodges, who has served as strategic asset management director at Orbit since May 2024, takes on the expanded role as the not-for-profit housing group intensifies its focus, ensuring its homes continue to meet the evolving needs and expectations of customers and remain fit for the future, as part of its 2030 Strategy.

""

Jeanette Hodges

In her new role, Hodges will guide Orbit’s investment decisions across its existing homes, strengthening the connection between long-term asset planning and the regeneration outcomes that matter most to customers, to help rebuild communities that better meet local needs.

Joining Jeanette’s team in driving this work forward, is Ed Tibbetts who joins as regeneration programme director, transferring from Orbit’s Development division.

Tibbetts joined Orbit in September 2022 as Land and New Business Director. He brings significant experience in delivering affordable and regenerated homes and in developing successful communities in London and across the country. In this new role, he will lead the delivery of regenerated homes.

Scott Rutherford, chief property and regeneration officer for Orbit said: “Jeanette is an outstanding leader whose expertise in strategic asset management, decarbonisation and sustainability makes her exceptionally well placed to lead our work in ensuring our homes and communities deliver what customers need and value in the long-term. Alongside her, Ed brings proven leadership in the design, planning and delivery of regenerated homes and communities”.

“The UK’s housing stock is ageing, and regeneration is central to delivering lasting, positive change for our customers and communities. These appointments will be instrumental in turning our strategy into action and increasing the positive impact we make for customers and communities.”

Regional leaders from across Coventry and Warwickshire’s tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors have been appointed to oversee three new industry associations aimed at supporting the area’s visitor economy.

Destination Coventry has launched the groups under its Visit Coventry leisure brand and Coventry & Warwickshire Convention Bureau, covering the Coventry & Warwickshire MICE Venues Association, the Coventry & Warwickshire General Managers Hotel & Accommodation Association, and the Coventry Product and Promotion group.""

The MICE Venues Association will focus on supporting venue sales, marketing and business development professionals across the region. It will be chaired by Chris Hartley of Hartley Consulting & Events, with Lowri Croydon, Head of Commercial and Business Development at NAEC Stoneleigh, as vice chair.

The General Managers Hotel & Accommodation Association brings together hotel leaders to share best practice and discuss operational challenges. It will be chaired by Faris Thowfeek, General Manager of ibis Coventry Centre.

The Product and Promotion group, which has been operating for five years, connects venues, attractions and stakeholders to coordinate activity and share insights. It will be chaired by Emma Kavanagh of Piece of Cake Marketing, with Ray Clenshaw of the Belgrade Theatre as vice chair.

Chris Hartley said: “There is a strong appetite for venues to collaborate across many areas including FAM trips, industry events, and shared best practice and to work together to showcase the region as a leading events destination. I’m delighted to Chair the association and look forward to helping our venues to work together to drive business tourism growth across Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Faris Thowfeek said: “Through this role, I hope to bring the hotel community closer together, encourage knowledge sharing and work alongside our partners to further position Coventry and Warwickshire as a strong destination for both business and leisure travellers. The region has huge potential, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the sector to help unlock more opportunities for our hotels and the wider visitor economy.”

Emma Kavanagh said: “As a proud Coventrian, I’m passionate about how we showcase everything the city has to offer. The Product and Promotion Group has always played an important role in bringing venues and attractions together and this refreshed approach gives us a real opportunity to build on that.”
