HS2 has begun early market engagement on a proposed \u00a31.24bn programme of maintenance contracts, as it prepares for the next phase of delivery on the high-speed rail project.<\/p>\n
The contracts, known as Interim Maintenance Contracts (IMCs), are intended to cover the upkeep and management of infrastructure delivered through HS2\u2019s main civil engineering works before longer-term rail systems contractors take over responsibility.<\/p>\n
HS2 said the package could run from December 2027 through to the end of 2037, with an estimated total value of \u00a31.24bn including VAT.<\/p>\n
The scope of work is expected to include land and environmental management, landscape maintenance, facilities management and routine maintenance of civil engineering infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Contracts may also incorporate security provision, principal contractor duties and professional services.<\/p>\n
Additional optional works could include landscape design, local civil engineering interventions and the creation of planted areas.<\/p>\n
The procurement forms part of wider planning linked to changes in the project\u2019s delivery model under the government-backed HS2 reset programme.<\/p>\n
As part of the engagement process, HS2 is seeking industry feedback on supplier appetite, delivery models and commercial structures ahead of a formal procurement exercise expected later this year.<\/p>\n
The organisation said it wants to better understand potential consortium approaches, specialist expertise and views on risk allocation before finalising tender arrangements.<\/p>\n
Participation in the market engagement exercise will not be required for suppliers wishing to bid for future contracts.<\/p>\n
