{"id":2115428,"date":"2026-08-10T07:13:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:13:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/?p=2115428"},"modified":"2026-08-10T07:23:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:23:41","slug":"new-era-for-luceco-as-it-names-new-ceo-to-succeed-founder-hornby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/news\/2115428-new-era-for-luceco-as-it-names-new-ceo-to-succeed-founder-hornby","title":{"rendered":"New era for Luceco as it names CEO to succeed founder Hornby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Luceco, the Telford-headquartered electrification products manufacturer, has appointed Dr Thorsten M\u00fcller as chief executive, effective 1 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">He succeeds founder John Hornby, who steps down as CEO and from the board on the same date after 21 years at the helm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">M\u00fcller joins from Halma plc, where he was divisional chief executive in the safety sector, having previously held senior leadership roles at ABB, Osram and Bosch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">He will join Luceco&#8217;s board as an executive director alongside taking up the CEO role, with Hornby remaining available to the group in an advisory capacity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Giles Brand, chair of Luceco, said M\u00fcller had a proven track record of delivering growth and innovation at industry-leading technology companies in the lighting, electrification and energy management sectors, and brought the skills needed to drive the group&#8217;s strategy for compounding growth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/de.linkedin.com\/in\/thorstenmueller\">M\u00fcller<\/a> said Luceco was a business of real quality, with premier brands and market-leading positions giving him firm confidence in the core of the business, alongside significant further upside from the energy transition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">The appointment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/news\/2114882-luceco-raises-fy27-outlook\">follows a strong first half<\/a> for Luceco, which upgraded its FY27 outlook in July after energy transition revenue, including EV charging and demand flexibility products, grew around 120% year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Revenue for the six months to 30 June rose approximately 13% to \u00a3143m, with adjusted operating profit up 14% to around \u00a315.8m.
