Birmingham law firm Ward Hadaway has appointed Chris Piggott as partner in its employment team.

Piggott brings more than 30 years’ experience advising employers, from SMEs to large corporates, across sectors including recruitment, financial services and further education.

He is train-the-trainer accredited and has delivered HR and workplace training for a range of businesses, including FTSE 100 operations, and is recognised by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 for his experience in TUPE, staff reorganisations, injunctive relief and restrictive covenant matters.

Harmajinder Hayre, head of employment at Ward Hadaway, said employers were dealing with increasing workplace complexity, with the Employment Rights Act 2025 bringing further change, and that Piggott’s training background gave clients a different perspective on helping managers handle issues earlier and with more confidence.

Managing partner Steven Petrie said the appointment marked a significant step for the Birmingham office, with employment law central to how the region’s broad employer base manages change, risk and workforce issues.

Piggott added that Ward Hadaway’s growing Birmingham office and the chance to develop its employment services across the West Midlands had been a strong reason for joining.
