{"id":2118014,"date":"2026-10-08T14:43:34","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T13:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/?p=2118014"},"modified":"2026-10-08T14:43:34","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T13:43:34","slug":"staffordshire-entrepreneur-lifts-pulse-stake-to-80-on-100m-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/news\/2118014-staffordshire-entrepreneur-lifts-pulse-stake-to-80-on-100m-target","title":{"rendered":"Staffordshire entrepreneur lifts Pulse stake to 80% on \u00a3100m target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Staffordshire businessman Mo Chaudry has increased his stake in Cheshire gym equipment maker Pulse Fitness from 51% to 80% as the company targets \u00a3100m turnover by 2030.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Pulse, <a href=\"https:\/\/pulsefitness.com\/\">based in Congleton<\/a>, expects group turnover to reach \u00a342m this year and plans to expand overseas, with the US, France, Portugal, India and China as key markets.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Exports made up 19% of sales over the last three years, and the company expects this to rise to 70% over the next four. The financial terms of the stake increase have not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chaudry, who chairs Pulse and also owns the M Club Spa and Fitness brand in Staffordshire, first invested in 2018. He said: &#8220;I can see first-hand the huge global growth potential Pulse has, particularly in the USA and India.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Pulse was founded in 1980 by brothers Chris and Dave Johnson, who started out in a disused milk parlour. It has designed, developed and installed more than 41,000 pieces of equipment, is present in 71 countries and 2,700 UK sites, and employs around 300 people. It opened its first US office last year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The group also includes seven UK fitness clubs and a leisure construction design-and-build business, and it has renewed a four-year contract to supply and service fitness equipment for the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chris Johnson said selling a further shareholding to Chaudry would give Pulse &#8220;the strongest possible platform&#8221; for its next stage of growth. Chaudry previously bought Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent and sold it to European leisure group Looping Group last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staffordshire businessman Mo
