The airport says each tonne carries around \u00a3670,000 of value for exporters.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The report comes as the airport consults on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/news\/2117971-2bn-birmingham-airport-masterplan-targets-30m-passengers\">\u00a32bn draft masterplan<\/a>, which aims to take it close to 30m passengers a year by 2041. The public consultation is now in its second week.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chief executive Nick Barton said: \u201cThis report clearly demonstrates that Birmingham Airport is far more than a departure point for holidaymakers; it is an economic powerhouse.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSafeguarding \u00a3670,000 per tonne for our exporters proves that we are a vital lifeline for British trade, linking our world-class local industries to global markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It follows Ryanair\u2019s announcement this week that it is adding a ninth aircraft at Birmingham Airport this winter, with five new routes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A final masterplan will be published in 2027, setting out how feedback from the consultation has shaped
