A Birmingham civil and structural engineering consultancy has been appointed to deliver a \u00a35m scheme to build dozens of new homes in the city’s Jewellery Quarter.<\/p>\n
CWA has secured the contract to carry out civil and structural engineering work on a 63-apartment scheme bounded by Edward Street, Helena Street and Scotland Street.<\/p>\n
Construction of two apartment buildings, by Trigram Properties, has begun. The development overlooks a shared courtyard with ground floor commercial units and car parking. <\/p>\n
The development will comprise 36 two-bedroom apartments, with 27 one-bed apartments. The foundations were completed in late December.<\/p>\n
CWA director Jim O’Donnell said the proposed structure was on a challenging site with difficult ground conditions on a sloped area with existing buildings on three sides. <\/p>\n
He said: “This development, as well as restoring frontages long since lost, will create valuable and much needed new housing stock in an area which is in high demand.”<\/p>\n
CWA, based in Great Charles Street, was established in 2011 as Copeland Wedge Associates and provides civil and structural design consultancy services to a wide range of sectors including leisure, residential, education, health, industrial, retail, infrastructure and public bodies. <\/p>\n
Major clients include Willmott Dixon Construction and Housing, Balfour Beatty, Seven Capital, RO Developments, Prologis, IM Properties, Seddon and Morgan Sindell. <\/p>\n
The company has delivered buildings for major end-user clients including West Midlands Police, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Northamptonshire County Council, Housing 21, Midland Heart, Rooftop Housing, Orbit Homes, Chevin Homes, Wrekin Housing, University of Warwick, Aston University, Coventry Sports Foundation and Marks and Spencer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
