Three new faces join the growing Tenet team
Birmingham-based niche law firm, Tenet Compliance & Litigation, has recently expanded, welcoming three new team members. Each new member brings national law firm experience and a breadth of legal knowledge with them to the firm that specialises in financial crime compliance, fraud investigations and litigation.
Rebecca Craig, Solicitor
“It’s great to get your teeth into something and help people out. When it comes to fraud, it’s not the victim’s fault so helping them out is rewarding,” says Rebecca.
Rebecca joins the team with experience hailing from DAC Beachcroft, BLM and Lyons Davidson.
“I started off my law career working as a solicitor at Lyons Davidson under a training contract, gaining experience across a breadth of areas but finally specialising in defendant personal injury work. My subsequent roles at BLM and DAC Beachcroft were focused around fraud claims, mainly working with insurance firms.
“I’ve always been proud of the results I’ve achieved for clients. It comes from creating good relationships with them, people know they can come to me and be sure I’ll do my best to solve their problems.
“A former colleague worked at Tenet and suggested I’d be a good fit when the team was expanding.
“One of the primary reasons I was attracted to joining Tenet was its fresh approach to working – putting client service and employee wellbeing ahead of all targets”
Carl Garvie, Barrister
“At Tenet, focus is always on the outcome for the client rather than the input of the team, which is what attracted me to the firm,” says Carl.
Carl trained at Pinsent Masons and qualified in 1986 where he became one of the youngest partners at the firm at only 29 and headed the commercial litigation team in Birmingham. He became a barrister in 2008 and was quickly identified as one of the top 10 barristers under 10 years call in England and Wales by Legal Week.
“Arun (Tenet’s founder) had a very good reputation and when I chatted to him about an opportunity to work at Tenet, I discovered the quality of work was extremely good.
“Tenet has a modern approach to the model of doing business. The work isn’t driven by hours or targets, it’s about the outcome for the client. The team is great too – there’s a really high-quality team of people working around you.”
Elaine Mitchell, Solicitor
“At Tenet, one of the aims is to make a difference for people who have been let down by their professional advisers”, explains Elaine.
Elaine has worked as a professional indemnity lawyer in national and global law firms, working in private practice as well as in-house. Her background in defending negligence claims gives her an advantage when it comes to acting for claimants. Elaine is now a consultant solicitor at Tenet and at another national law firm.
“Flexible working is important to me, so I decided to become a consultant. The Tenet model of no targets and being able to choose where and when I work really appealed to me, as it allows me to focus on doing a good job for our clients as well as enjoying a healthy work-life balance”.
From her time working in-house, Elaine understands what it is like to be the client. “I have some appreciation of the financial and emotional impact of claims, which can also be very time-consuming and take people away from their own commitments. I therefore do my best to ensure that clients feel supported every step of the way and that claims are resolved at the earliest opportunity”.
