Wealth creation firm launched

A FINANCE professional who spent part of his career as a footballer has launched his own wealth management company.

Greg Thomson, who was a professional footballer for Falkirk in Scotland before a back injury ended his career, has established IQ Wealth Creation.

Mr Thomson, 33, has spent the last five years as a partner at financial consulting firm St James’s Place.

IQ Wealth Creation aims to give people the opportunity to make the investments they want.

Mr Thomson said: “I’ve been there – as both a businessman and a sportsman – and I wanted to create a unique programme that would help people make the choices that will enable them to achieve financial freedom.”

IQ Wealth Creation sits at the centre of a group of professional service providers, hand picked by Mr Thomson and working across a range of investment disciplines.

Greg ThomsonMr Thomson has developed a ‘wealth calculator’, which he says enables him to help clients establish what income is available to invest on a monthly basis.

“We start by visualising the kind of life people want; mapping it out and working out the level of income they need – and by when – to fund it,” he said.

“Once we’ve set those goals, I bring in professionals across a broad range of disciplines to provide specialist advice about the type and level of investment that will achieve those goals within the timeframes we’ve set, and create a balanced and focused investment portfolio, which is reviewed every quarter.

“The ultimate aim is to help every client reach a stage where they can choose whether or not they want to work; when their earned income from business or employment is completely replenished by passive and portfolio income.

“It’s an incredibly focused programme; getting people to think about what they really want out of life and helping them achieve it.”

Mr Thomson added that one of his prime motivations for founding the business was a desire to break away from commission-based structures to deliver independent advice across a range of investment options, rather than restricting clients to a single investment route.
