Pace picks up another award

SET-top box manufacturer Pace has won the Grant Thornton Business of the Year award at the regional final of the 2009 National Business of the Year Awards.
Business of the Year is one of nine regional categories in the National Business Awards programme with the winner expected to demonstrate exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovation strategy, plus market leadership in its market.
As the regional winner for the North of England and Northern Ireland the Saltaire-based firm will now go forward as a finalist in the national awards programme.
Helen Kettleborough, director of corporate communications at Pace, said:”It is a great honour for Pace to be recognised by the National Business Awards judges and testament to the incredible work by everyone in the company.”
The success comes only weeks after Pace’s chief executive Neil Gaydon was recognised at the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year regional awards.
Mr Gaydon has also been short-listed for the Institute of Directors regional director of the year award.
Fellow Yorkshire winners included Leeds-based Remote Asset Management (RAM), which took the Customer Focus Award title.
Its managing director Chris McClellan was also awarded Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his exceptional leadership and vision.
The Crown Spa Hotel in Scarborough won the Health, Work & well-being Award for Small Business. The judges were impressed by the remarkable change in culture it has achieved through a mixture of leadership, innovation and employee engagement.
The Employer of the Year Award went to Doncaster Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise. Judges said the organisation clearly demonstrated how training and communication had been completely overhauled to inspire staff to help motivate and deliver tangible success in business for its members.
