Help at hand under enterprise scheme

A PROJECT has been launched to help people in Rotherham who are looking to set up or currently run their own business.
Rotherham Enterprise has been set up by partners in the borough to give a helping hand.
Geoff Link, from Rotherham Enterprise, said: “We want to develop and foster an enterprising culture across our local communities by promoting self-employment and enterprising opportunities for individuals and businesses.
“The project, funded by European Regional Development Fund, will employ teams of business coaches and business support officers to work closely with communities and with individuals who want to start or already run their own business.
“Help is also available for existing businesses who may be experiencing difficulties whether they be financial, legislation, beaurocracy, marketing or simply needing somebody to talk to.
“There are many opportunities for people to become self employed and in the current economic climate it is extremely important for people to know that free and confidential help is available.”
Rotherham Enterprise help people to look for business opportunities, help them grow in confidence, and then develop the necessary business skills needed to start and run a business.
The project is being delivered by four partner organisations: Rotherham Investment and Development Office, Rotherham Youth Enterprise, Voluntary Action Rotherham, and Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber.
Mr Link added: “We are sure that there are people in Rotherham who have some great ideas about starting up on their own or have been affected by redundancy and have great skills that they use to become self employed but just don’t know where to turn. These are the people we want to hear from.”
