KNARESBOROUGH-based Icon Electronics has been chosen as an outsourcing partner for an innovative new product that could help businesses improve their energy efficiency by up to 27%.

The Knaresborough-based electronic manufacturing specialist, which is part of the AEI Electronics group, will produce components for EMU System’s new energy monitoring device edd:e.

edd:e, which has a global patent pending, measures the use of electricity, temperature and humidity in commercial properties.

For many commercial users edd:e offers the first opportunity to identify circuit-level energy consumption as it is being used on the premises.

The device measures instantaneous power at an individual circuit level and delivers real-time data to the ask-eddie.co.uk website which can be accessed by customers 24 hours a day.

Icon’s commercial manager Tracy Court said: “edd:e is a truly innovative product and we’re all delighted to be involved during this exciting launch phase.”

HORSFORTH-based Gamestec, one of the UK’s leading gaming machine operators, has announced the launch of a new, instant-win lottery product to help raise money for good causes.

The TabBOXX lottery ticket dispenser offers players the chance to win a top prize of £1,000 as well as smaller prizes and promotional offers.

It was co-pioneered in North America by Oasis Gaming – a division of International Gamco and McIntire and Associates.

The first games will initially be launched in the run up to Christmas through a number of leading pub companies with proceeds benefiting national charities including The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Peter Davies, business development director at Gamestec, said: “It is particularly apt that in the first instance the charity we are supporting is the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation as we believe many publicans will use TabBOXX to replace cigarette machines should the Government’s new UK Health Bill ban them.”
