Nice performance for Nisa

PROMOTIONS on leading alchohol brands have helped boost Nisa-Today’s December trading figures.

The Scunthorpe-based member owned grocer said today that last months sales increased by 17% in value and 10% in volume.

The company saw significant increases in licensed product sales with a 32% rise in value and a 26% increase in volume on beers, wines and spirits compared to the previous year.

Nisa also experienced strong performance across its core grocery category with a 17% increase.

The December performance has improved Nisa’s year to date trading (April to December) with the company achieving 12.9% growth in value and 7.5% in volume during that period.

The company has achieved a £1bn turnover in just nine months.

John Sharpe, managing director of central distribution trading and logistics, commented: “To help achieve these fantastic results we made an investment in price to help members.

“The results show that the promotional activities, which we ran throughout December for our members, including selling one litre bottles of Smirnoff Vodka, Baileys and Gordon’s Gin at £10 each, were a great success.”
