Smart card specialist wins Virgin East Coast contract

Specialist BemroseBooth Paragon, which supplies magnetic tickets and smart cards, has secured a contract with Virgin Trains East Coast.

BBP will supply Virgin with payroll services, and manage part of the warehousing and pick and pack for the company’s luggage labels.

As a business, BBP manages a number of contracts within the sector, providing all marketing storage and timetable distribution, as well as the manufacture and delivery of all rail and bus tickets to transport operators up and down the country.

BBP recently acquired Buralls InfoSmart, one of the few companies certified to produce ITSO smart cards in the UK.

Key account director for Bemrose Booth, Sarah McLaughlin commented: “I am very pleased to announce that we have secured the contract to supply payroll services for the business. They are a great company to work with and further complement the range of clients that we work with across the sector.

“Our expertise means that we are able to add value and to make recommendations that improve efficiencies. As one of the leading suppliers in the market, we know that we can meet and exceed expectations, which is just one of the reasons some of the largest brands in the UK and across the world choose to work with us.”

Dave Edwards from Virgin Trains East Coast commented: “When it comes to our supplier network, we work with people we can trust to get the job done and to do it well. We know that BBP has a strong reputation within the sector and that many bus and rail operators work with the company. Knowing that we can rely on them to add value and to make informed recommendations is further rationale for us choosing to work with them.”

BBP tech works on RFID contactless cards, tickets, tags and labels for a number of customers across sectors including transport, retail, sports and leisure and marketing and is a member of the Paragon Group.

BBP tech is now a trading division of Paragon’s Hull based transit and parking print specialist, BemroseBooth Paragon, which produces 800 million magnetic tickets a year to the UK rail network.
