Appointments: Fromant takes MD role at Contis; Shulmans move for Carlisle; and more

MIKE Fromant is set to take Skipton-based Contis Group, provider of online banking and prepaid card technologies and services, to the next level following his promotion to managing director.

Mr Fromant has nearly four decades of experience in the banking and consumer finance industry and his promotion from general manager follows the recent launch of Contis Group’s £2m investment programme to position the company at the forefront of developments in payment processing, including advancements in cloud computing and SMART phone technology.

He said: “It is exhilarating to be handed the reins of the company during such an exciting time. The prepaid industry is really flourishing – with predictions of a boom expected to continue until at least 2017.”

Shulmans' Dawn Carlisle and John FosterLEEDS-based commercial lawyers Shulmans has recruited lawyer Dawn Carlisle into its commercial property team from Gordons.

Ms Carlisle’s appointment forms part of the firm’s policy of achieving 50% growth over five years.

She is well known for her work in the utilities, energy and waste management sectors and has handled a number of major development and investment schemes involving complex financial transactions.

Having previously worked for Yorkshire Water and then Eversheds, Ms Carlisle will be reunited at Shulmans with commercial property partner John Foster, with whom she worked for 10 years.

She said: “I am excited to join a team with such a successful record and a clear and ambitious vision for the future. I am determined to make a valuable contribution to Shulmans’ growth strategy and look forward to driving it forward.”

Paul Fitzjohn, Redmayne-BentleySTOCKBROKING and investment management firm Redmayne-Bentley has made Paul Fitzjohn its first appointment since relocating to its new head office in Bond Court, Leeds.

He is joining the firm as public relations executive working alongside the marketing team.

Mr Fitzjohn has a range of PR experience having previously worked at the Halifax press office, HBOS and most recently at Morrisons Supermarkets as a media relations officer in the corporate affairs and communications department, overseeing corporate affairs activity, campaign management and new store openings.

Steve Whittaker, The Sheffield Park HotelA SHEFFIELD hotel set for a new lease of life after being taken over by a leading hotel brand has appointed a new general manager.

The Sheffield Park Hotel, which is currently being rebranded as the DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park, has taken on Steve Whittaker.

Mr Whittaker joins the team after working most recently as resident manager at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds and  York-based Aldwark Manor Golf and Spa Hotel.
