Businesswoman is thinking big with online event for SME owners and target to raise funds for charity

Finding out a loved one has cancer is an emotional, life-changing experience. For businesswoman Ros Jones it immediately healed a 20-year family rift between her and her eldest sister which had resulted in them not speaking for over 2 decades.

The terminal cancer diagnosis of her sister followed Ros’ mother also being diagnosed with the disease. Following the trauma of losing two loved ones to cancer, Ros has been a huge supporter of the MacMillan cancer charity due to the essential support they gave to her family and both her sister and mother receiving chemotherapy in the same chemotherapy unit run by MacMillan Cancer Support at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.

Raising thousands of pounds running half marathons, Ros is now hoping to raise nearly £10,000 through an online event – the Think Big Believe Big Business Summit.

Ros said:

“This year has been incredibly challenging for lots of people, for so many reasons. I know how difficult it has been for charities like Macmillan and the impact the pandemic has had on cancer treatment and diagnosis meaning more than ever, their services will be needed and appreciated by so many.

As a business owner, I wanted to do something that not only would raise money for a brilliant charity but would also support fellow business owners after an unbelievably turbulent and challenging year – and share the message of hope, optimism and potential.”

Adele Burrough, Fundraising Manager at Macmillan said:

“We know it’s not easy for anyone at the moment but having a diagnosis of cancer on top of everything else is devastating. We’ve launched an appeal in Yorkshire, and we want to be there for every person diagnosed with cancer in the region. At this time our supporters, and every donation they receive, have never mattered more. I would like to say a huge thank you to Ros for her support as the funds donated from the event will make a massive difference to the people living with cancer.”

The event takes place online 27th May 2021 with 14 speakers from the Yorkshire business community sharing their stories, advice and experience on topics including business growth,  imposter syndrome, breaking down personal barriers, making social change and sustainability.

There at 99 tickets available for £99. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the MacMillan charity https://thinkandbelievebig.eventbrite.co.uk
