APLSKIPTON-based Access Protection Limited (APL) has appointed Denis Kaye to its board of directors.

APL provides businesses and organisations across the UK with cost effective door automation, integrated access and asset security systems.

Working across a variety of sectors including banking and finance, local government authorities, retail, commercial, and healthcare, the company was established in 2003 by Paul Batty and Neil Rollerson and has developed a reputation for dealing with complex requirements.

The appointment of its first non executive director marks the beginning of the next phase of the company’s development. Having carried out a strategic business review the two directors identified the potential benefit of a more formal governance structure and of having an independent director with a financial background.

Mr Kaye is a chartered accountant and former deputy chairman of the IoD Yorkshire & Humber region. He has a portfolio of non-executive directorships with SMEs and is founder of the Yorkshire Leadership Group.

Mr Rollerson said: “We first worked with Denis as a consultant and then as a mentor so he understands us and we understand him. There is mutual respect and that is a great start.”
