Harworth digs in for fight to remain independent as Peel circles

The battle for Harworth has barely been under way a week, but it is already shaping up as a fight for the Yorkshire regeneration group's independence.

Last Thursday, Manchester property giant Peel launched its audacious £583m bid to take full control of Harworth, offering 172.5p a share for the stock it does not already own.

Just 24 hours later, Harworth hit back with a blunt rejection.
