Deal for Andy Thornton division

ANDY Thornton, the commercial interiors business, has sold its joinery products division.
Wakefield-based PDS Design & Build has acquired the division.
The division specialises in creating hospitality interiors and will continue to operate from its present manufacturing base in Elland, West Yorkshire.
No jobs will be lost following the move, which will see the division trade as Andy Thornton Contracts.
The division has a forward order book including an interior fit-out of the new American Express head office in Brighton, a refurbishment of the Chester Grosvenor Hotel and export orders from India and Finland.
Charles Tolley, Andy Thornton’s managing director, said: “Despite the ongoing difficult economic conditions, this strategic development provides an excellent opportunity for both companies going forward.
Following the deal, Andy Thornton will focus on the supply of contract furniture and accessories, decorative lighting, antiques and architectural metalwork for the hospitality, retail and domestic markets.
The company will be based in the two remaining sites, a head office and warehouse on the Rosemount Estate, Elland and its flagship showroom at Victoria Mills in Greetland.
“This company has a solid order book, with many well-known high street brands, such as JD Wetherspoon, Nandos and Cafe Nero, as regular customers,” said Mr Tolley.
Andy Thornton was advised by Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors, whilst PDS Design & Build was represented by Blacks Solicitors and Montpelier Chartered Accountants, with finance for the new venture provided by Handlesbanken.
