Rex Procter & Partners in profile

CONSTRUCTION consultancy Rex Procter & Partners is continuing to invest in emerging talent as the company celebrates its 75th anniversary.

With more than 100 staff in Bradford, Leeds, London, Hemel and Edinburgh the business is well placed for the future.

Founded in 1937 by Rex Procter in 24 Queen Street, Leeds, the business has evolved into one of the leading construction consultancies in the region.

Recruitment targets are on the increase as new opportunities emerge and the business remains on a strong financial footing with no borrowings, office ownership and a strong pipeline of opportunities.

The business has taken on eight new starters over the last four months.

These include Ian Kaye, a project manager with significant experience of food retail construction schemes, and Iain Anderson, a senior quantity surveyor with an interest in education projects. RP&P has also taken on four 16 to 24 year olds.

As an SME operating nationally, RP&P is also leading the way in community engagement and is heavily involved in assisting local schools in delivering home grown talent to the business community.

The business has provided a number of work experience opportunities using innovative collaborations with other local firms.

‘Building for the Future’ – a joint initiative with Yorkshire-based GMI Construction – employs two university students for a year, spending six months each at the respective companies.

Additionally ‘Classroom in….construction’ has seen RP&P partner with other companies to provide work placed learning for students at a Yorkshire school.

And ‘The Work Inspiration’ programme has provided a positive early experience of the workplace for Year 10 students from Laisterdyke Business & Enterprise College, with 120 students attending the company’s offices over three morning sessions to engage with staff.

From April 1, Rex Procter & Partners and its associated companies RP&P Management, RP&P Asbestos Services, RP&P Waste Management and RP&P Construction Services have been placed into a new group structure under RPP Group Holdings Limited.

The business said the move will enable all staff within the group companies to share common values, and widen the service offer for clients under a unified RP&P brand.

Chairman Paul Mackie said: “The property industry in the last three years has seen some of the toughest times we have faced. However, we’ve positioned ourselves for the future, developing new ways of working to respond to the new economic environment that we are faced with.

“Having all the RP&P companies under common control as part of one enhanced group will help the RP&P brand to develop further in the future.

“We’re celebrating with old friends and new successes this year, our 75th anniversary.”
