Mobile Tornado has ‘exciting’ future – Wilkinson

MOBILE Tornado cut pre-tax losses and grew revenues by 43% last year.

The company, which provides instant communication software that can be used on mobile phones, said the last 18 months had seen a “clear shift” in attitude among mobile operators who had previously worried the type of services it provides could hurt their revenues from traditional voice calls.

Harrogate-based Mobile Tornado has signed agreements with operators in South America and Italy in recent months.

Chairman Peter Wilkinson said the market was “increasingly receptive” to its proposition and described its prospects for the next 12 months as “exciting”.

Revenues grew from £1.43m to £2.05m for the year to the end of December with pre-tax losses reduced from £1,63m to £1.21m.

Operating losses fell from £1.3m to £816,000 while the total loss for the year fell from £1.6m to £1.1m.

Mobile Tornado said it had developed a client for use on phones running the Android operating system that will be launched later this year.
