LNT Group sells Midlands care homes

LNT Group has completed a deal to sell nine of its Midlands care homes as chairman Lawrence Tomlinson is shortlisted for the Institute of Directors director of the year award.

Leeds-based LNT Group has also appointed banker Matt Lowe as its new group commercial director.

The care home sale sees five properties run by LNT’s Ideal Care Homes arm and four being built by LNT Construction acquired by Sanctuary Group.

Mr Tomlinson said: “We share Sanctuary’s values and commitment to providing well designed, state-of-the-art facilities coupled with high quality, accessible care, so we are delighted that they are acquiring and managing these nine homes.

“The five operational homes have fantastic residents and staff and the dedicated team are looking forward to becoming part of the Sanctuary family.”

The homes in Telford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham, will be managed by Sanctuary Care, a subsidiary of Worcestor-based Sanctuary Group.

Sanctuary Group chief executive David Bennett said: “This is an excellent investment and will allow us to expand our care provision in the Midlands to  meet the needs of the region’s ageing population.

“Our care business plays an important part in the continued success of Sanctuary Group and this acquisition supports our aims for long term sustainable growth in the care sector.”

Mr Lowe joins LNT from Royal Bank of Scotland where he was regional director for its North-East region.

LNT Group has also recruited former Freeth Cartwright partner Philip Raven as its company secretary.

Mr Lowe said: “It is a fantastic time for Philip and I to be joining the LNT Group.  We have both had long term relationships with the Group and are excited to be part of shaping the future of this diverse range of businesses with such exciting and market leading products”.

Mr Tomlinson’s shortlisting for the IoD’s director of the year award follows his winning of the Yorkshire award last year.

He is one of seven people in the running for the award which will be presented at a ceremony in London on October 5.

Gareth Barker, managing director of Sheffield Forgemasters, is also shortlisted in the large business of the year category.

Last year he won Yorkshire young director of the year.
