Saudi deal for D&M Designs

A FABRICATIONS company that started in a Yorkshire garage has secured an £80,000 contract with the £16m Saudi Arabian railway project.

The order is the biggest to date for the Kirkby Malzeard, North Yorkshire-based company, D&M Designs and Fabrications, which was formed two years ago and employs 12 people.

Director Dave Mawer said: “We’re hoping it will lead to more work if we do a good enough job.

“It is the biggest order we have had so far, which is great.”

The steel fabrication company will create devices to separate sand and rainwater for the five of the 2,100km rail system’s stations, which will link with Bahrain and the other Gulf countries.

Work on the railway is scheduled to be completed by 2017.
