B.Braun targets £145m UK sales in 2013

HEALTHCARE business B. Braun has reported strong UK growth figures over the last year and is confident of further increased business in 2013.

The Sheffield-based company which employs 1,110 people in the UK, part of the B. Braun global healthcare business, is continuing to grow its market share and in the financial year ending December 2012 achieved double digit growth rates in both sales and profitability.

As part of its strategic growth plan, the company’s target for 2013 is a strong increase in sales across all its businesses to hit £145m in UK sales.

Group chief executive Hans Hux said: “We are very pleased with our company’s excellent performance – which is in sharp contrast to the overall climate and to the performance of the European & UK economy.

“We are committed to our strategic growth strategy which will lead to improved market shares for our UK organisations and businesses. We aim to deliver UK sales of £250m over the next few years.

“We are very confident of achieving our targets, despite the financial pressures facing the NHS. We have excellent people, increasing demand for our existing portfolio of products and services and are committed to introduce further innovation and efficiency.”

B. Braun is a UK market leader in key market segments such as navigated joint implantology, needle safety technology, automated infusion pump systems, surgical instrumentation and sterile technology.

Mr Hux stressed the need for the NHS to continue its innovation and productivity programme to help secure the huge £20bn of efficiency savings required.

He added: “The NHS has to look at their ways of working to become more efficient to deliver more for less.
“Meeting efficiency and productivity targets is not about cutting jobs and closing services – it is about using innovation to re-think and re-design the way services are delivered.

“We are very eager to continue and expand our successful partnership with the NHS. We are keen to share our expertise to ensure innovation and quality are not lost in the drive to cut costs, but there to improve the overall efficiency of the National Health Service to the benefit of the patient – that is our most important goal to achieve!”
