New law firm launches in Leeds

A NEW law firm has been launched in Leeds and is on the lookout to strengthen its team.
Freeman Fisher has been established by experienced solicitors Alex Megaw and Gary Black with an office in No 1 in the city centre and headquarters in Manchester.
Sports, media and entertainment law specialist Stephen Taylor Heath has been recruited as a partner in the Leeds office.
Mr Taylor Heath works with sports and entertainment stars, promoters and agents and was previously the in-house counsel at Frank Warren Promotions before spells at Leeds law firms Fox Hayes, Lupton Fawcett and Eatons.
The 45-year-old has represented boxers, rugby league and soccer stars, jockeys and cricketers as well as broadcasters, bands, music management and TV production companies.
Mr Taylor Heath, who lives in Selby, said: “I have joined Freeman Fisher because I have bought into its ethos of providing big firm quality commercial legal advice in a flexible entrepreneurial environment.”
Freeman Fisher now plans to recruit commercial property, intellectual property and private client partners within its first year of operation, while also expanding its commercial litigation and corporate/commercial offering.
Mr Megaw was the managing partner at Davies Arnold Cooper’s Manchester office until its merger with Beachcroft in 2011. He continued as a partner at DAC Beachcroft until last December.
Mr Black returns to practice after a spell as legal director of Manchester-based investment group CorpAcq. Before joining CorpAcq in 2007, he was a partner at Manchester firm Berg Legal.
