Nokia Siemens turns to WANdisco

YORKSHIRE software group WANdisco announced today that world mobile broadband specialist Nokia Siemens Networks is to use its Hadoop solutions to deliver 100% uptime for Big Data storage and access across its product portfolio.
Hadoop is a proven, open source Big Data technology which serves as the backbone for many of the world’s largest and most important databases used by companies such as Yahoo, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon and eBay.
Sheffield and California-based WANdisco said that unlike traditional relational database software, Apache Hadoop is capable of storing and analysing “tremendous amounts of structured and unstructured data.”
“This agreement is a clear demonstration that Hadoop is the application platform of choice for all kinds of organisations,” said David Richards, chief executive of WANdisco.
“It is also further testimony to the unique capability that WANdisco Big Data technology provides, which is continuous availability.”
Soma Velayutham, head of customer insight and experience product management, Nokia Siemens Networks, added: “Our customers recognise the competitive edge that harnessing Big Data technology can deliver in telecommunications.
“Leveraging Hadoop enables us to provide them with the real-time insight that is the foundation for business value.
“WANdisco has the expertise and experience in Hadoop that is key for implementing Big Data in the telecommunications industry.”
