Lambie takes the reins as Moorland pushes forward

MOORLAND Energy has appointed Alex Lambie as the company’s executive chairman as it focuses on its ambitions to drive the company forward.
In particular, Moorland said it is keen to progress with its Ryedale Gas Project.
Lambie, who was previously non-executive chairman and joined the Moorland Energy board in 2011, said: “I am delighted to step up to be executive chairman of Moorland Energy at such an exciting time for the company and in the broad energy sector.
“One of my top priorities will be to push forward with the Ryedale Gas Project, which will bring considerable economic benefits to the North Yorkshire area, including a significant number of jobs and substantial investment.
“I look forward to working with all the company’s partners and stakeholders in this project to accelerate its development so the local community can reap the economic benefits and UK gas consumers can enjoy enhanced security of supply.”
The Ryedale Gas Project involves plans to build and onshore gas plant close to Ebberston, North Yorkshire. It is projected to provide enough energy to power 75,000 homes and an annual value of gas equating close to £600m over its proposed 20 year lifetime. The project will also create over 180 jobs; 23 permanent, 150 construction and 10 post gas-production apprenticeships.
Over his 38 year career, Lambie has proved himself to be one of the most successful and experienced senior executives in the energy sector. As non-executive chairman of Welsh Power Group, he built the company up into an integrated energy business with an enterprise value exceeding £1bn from an initial investment of just £38m. Lambie also led the European expansion and risk diversification strategy for one of Spain’s largest electricity companies, Endesa, investing over €5bn of equity to acquire and develop businesses in Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal and Morocco.
