Redevelopment for mill following sale

A FORMER mill is to be transformed after being snapped up by Oak Tree Developments.

High Mill in Cullingworth had previously been converted into offices but a shortage of commercial tenants led Dacres Commercial to explore alternative uses for the building.

Shipley-based Oak Tree now plan to start work immediately on residential scheme comprising two town houses, semi-detached cottage, detached cottage and three apartments, scheduled for completion by summer 2014.

Matthew Brear of Dacres Commercial said: “Although High Mill had operated as successful office accommodation, over the last few years demand has dwindled with most occupiers opting for more commercial centres. As a result we decided to market the building with a variety of potential uses and its rural location combined with far reaching views definitely gives it residential appeal, so we’re delighted to complete this sale to Oak Tree Developments.”

Carl Darren, of Oak Tree Developments, said: “We know that confidence is returning to the residential market and this is a fabulous building set within Cullingworth’s Conservation area so a high quality residential scheme is an obvious way to bring it back to life.

“Oak Tree Developments has an established track record of creating homes in conservation areas and restoring old buildings to their former glory. As a result we’ve received fantastic support from Cullingworth Village Council throughout the planning process and had great feedback from the local community and homebuyers who want to see more realistically priced, high quality homes in the area.”

Steven Potts from Dacre Son and Hartley’s Bingley office, which has been appointed to market the development, added: “Cullingworth is a popular location with excellent local amenities, good road links to areas including Bingley, Keighley, Halifax, Bradford and Leeds and it has a strong village community. This development is close to the centre of the village and will offer a high standard of accommodation with great countryside views so it will definitely prove popular with homebuyers.”
