York Mailing boosts board with senior hires

YORK Mailing has strengthened its board with the appointment of a new chairman and non-executive director.
Elvington-based York Mailing, which is the largest supplier of printed products including flyers, media inserts and catalogues to UK retailers including Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Lidl and Boden, has welcomed Richard Connell as chairman.
Mr Connell brings with him extensive experience in assisting growth companies having worked for various private equity houses including 3i, Invesco Asset Management and Montagu Private Equity.
He also subsequently chaired several institutionally backed companies including Dignity, CVS, Mercury Pharma and Cory Environmental.
Mr Connell was introduced to York Mailing by Business Growth Fund’s growing Talent Network of experienced senior business figures.
York Mailing has also appointed Judith Donovan as non-executive director.
Ms Donovan founded her own marketing agency in 1982, which she grew to more than 50 staff with a turnover of £12.5m before selling to her management in 2000.
Since then she has pursued a varied non-executive career, which includes working for Royal Mail, the Eden project and DEFRA.
The appointments follow a significant period of development for York Mailing.
In July 2013 it secured investment of £10m from BGF, the independent company established to help the UK’s growing businesses. It subsequently acquired The Lettershop Group, one of the leading print marketing and mailing solution providers in Europe, in August 2013.
Chris Ingram, chief executive officer of York Mailing, said: “On behalf of York Mailing, I am pleased to welcome Richard and Judith to our board. Their appointments represent a real step forward for our business. In Richard we have an experienced FTSE 250 chairman who will bring invaluable business understanding and help direct the group’s strategic thinking. Judith, with her unparalleled direct marketing experience, will also be able to help us as we develop our full service offering to the group’s customers.”
