Channel 4 calls on Spike for Alan Davies documentary

MUSIC composition specialist Spike Scott, part of Yorkshire-based media production company Mezzo Group, has produced the music for a documentary about the actor and comedian Alan Davies.

Spike worked in partnership with long-time musical collaborator Sandy Nuttgens to create the titles and incidentals for Alan Davies’ Teenage Revolution.

The three-part series follows the coming of age of the actor and comedian through the 1980s.

Spike was approached by the documentary’s director and producer, Robert Coldstream, and asked to produce music that would help the mood shifts of the narrative, mirroring Alan Davies’ taste in 80s music.

Spike said: “The series utilises a lot of 80s tracks that we all know and love and our job was to complement these while bringing out Alan’s personal music preferences which are more in favour of guitar orientated bands like the Jam rather than the synth pop we might expect.

“Consequently, the score features a lot of guitars and reggae beats, as well as more traditional scoring instrumentation. It was a great project to work on and an honour to work with Alan and the team at Channel 4.”
