Medical supplies firm snaps up manufacturer

H&R HEALTHCARE has acquired a medical manufacturer that supplies the NHS with medical support products.

Leicester-based CUI International was bought in a transaction managed by M&A advisor BCMS.

CUI International is a manufacturer and developer of hernia support products, a number of which are patent protected or design-registered.

Located in Leicester, the company carries out manufacturing on site with its product range approved by the NHS

Acquirer H&R Healthcare Ltd is a Hull-based distributor of medical devices sourced from leading international manufacturers. The company specialises in the supply of world class products in the areas of infection control, advanced wound management and compression hosiery.

Razak Vayani, managing director of CUI International Ltd, comments: “I am very grateful to BCMS for the professional manner in which they managed the sale of CUI to H&R Healthcare.

“Without a doubt the quality of the acquisition target company has a direct influence on the sale process, however, BCMS played a crucial role in providing comfort and reassurance to all parties along the journey, enabling a successful completion of the transaction.

“The BCMS deal team played a crucial role in providing comfort and reassurance to all parties during the sale journey. I now look forward to the next exciting phase of the company’s development,” adds Vayani.

Mike Hoskins, managing director of H&R Healthcare Ltd, comments: “We are absolutely delighted with the acquisition, which is strategically important for us as it enables us to develop our own brand business for the first time since we established the company 8 years ago.

“CUI have an excellent reputation upon which we believe we can build and we are looking forward to further develop the business through both the existing CUI team as well as the H&R team.”

BCMS deal leader Scott Jones, who managed the transaction, said: “There is strong growth within the medical devices and consumables space, reflecting the demand generated by the health needs of ageing populations in most advanced economies.”
