Leeds stockbrokers snap up Kent investment firm

STOCKBROKING and investment management firm Redmayne-Bentley has acquired Kent firm Havelock Hunter.
Tunbridge Wells firm Havelock Hunter will become Redmayne-Bentley’s 38th branch across the UK.
It was co-owned by James Havelock Andrews and Robert Hunter, and brings a historical link to the stockbrokers.
Three firms merged in 1965, Redmayne & B& Co, FW Bentley & Co and J W Granger & Co, as regulation threatened their existence.
JW Granger was owned by Tony Wilkin, who founded Wilkinform Stockbrokers where James Havelock Andrews started his career.
Keith Loudon, senior partner at Redmayne-Bentley, said: “This acquisition represents Redmayne-Bentley’s ongoing commitment to provide traditional and professional stockbroking and investment management services, whilst extending its presence across the UK. “
James Havelock Andrews said: “We have been close to Redmayne-Bentley for quite some time and over the years have often found the time to discuss industry developments and prevailing market conditions with our peers.
“Both companies’ business models are very similar and both believe that building excellent client relations and providing a high level of customer service is paramount to creating a successful business.
“The continually changing tide of regulation is unlikely to slacken anytime soon and being part of a larger group will certainly enable us to be better positioned to adapt in response to future changes.”
