Success of Asian businesses in the region celebrated

IN A year that has seen him knighted, Sir Gary Verity has continued to receive accolodaes for his role in leading the region’s visitor economy after he picked up a special award at the Yorkshire Asian Business Association’s (YABA) gala dinner.
The Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive was one of four people who received special awards at the Bradford event, which were also given to Parklane Properties director Nazir Ahmed, Amjad Pervez of food wholesalers Seafresh and Andleeb Hanif, managing editor of Asian Express Newspapers.
YABA chairman Amarjit Singh said: “Here in Yorkshire we see an emerging and evolving Asian business community that contributes and will continue to contribute immensely to the region’s success.”
Six category awards were also handed out:
– Retail business: Ahmed Mulla, Mullaco Dewsbury
– Food, drink and agri-tech business: Bobby Patel, Prashad
– Professional: Qari Asim, DLA Piper
– Emerging entrepreneur: Sukhvinder Javeed, Milkysnugz
– SME business: Zak Patel, Talk Direct
– International business: Arnab Basu, Kromek Group
