American firm makes "multi-million dollar" investment in assessment company

AMERICAN assessment company Prometric has made a “multi-million dollar” investment in BTL Learning & Assessment, a Shipley-based business which develops test programs.
BTL’s assessment platform, Surpass, will be included into Prometric’s global testing infrastructure, which spans 8,000 test centres in more than 160 countries. The West Yorkshire company, which was founded in 1985, currently employs around 70 people.
BTL chairman Dr Bob Gomersall, said: “We hope and believe that this is another significant step towards our ambition of enhancing the educational experience of all learners through the intelligent use of technology.”
Prometric is a Baltimore-based business with an office in Manchester. Its chief technology officer Paul Forrester added: “We are taking test development and delivery to new levels of accuracy and publishing speeds, with the ability to deliver tests in multiple modes and on multiple devices. Equally as important, test takers will see more intuitive and easier-to-use exams on-screen for an improved testing experience.”
