Bradford print firm invests six-figures in production line

BRADFORD label manufacturer Watermill Press has invested £160,000 in a waste handling system at its West Bowling factory.

The firm is predicting that their investment in a Lundberg TECH waste system will increase productivity by 10%.

Extraction pipes will process waste through shredders and into a compactor, meaning less down time on the company’s printing lines as machine operatives will not have to stop production manually for disposals.

Watermill manufactures product identification labels predominantly for the food, drink and retail industries.

Managing director at Watermill Press, Dale Deacon, said: “The automatic system will reduce the stop-start nature of our machine operatives’ work and therefore increase our overall factory efficiency – we’ve calculated it should increase throughputs by over 10%.

“No longer will colleagues have to stop the line, manually cut out the waste rolls and then physically transport it to the waste areas outside the building to dispose of it.

“By keeping the line working at maximum capacity for longer, we will see productivity increases, and running costs lowered.

“The installation has a sophisticated built in heat recovery system that will also have a beneficial impact on our carbon footprint and heating bills.”
