100 firefighters attend Bradford mill fire

A FIRE broke out in Bradford yesterday on Lumb Lane, putting residents and businesses at risk.

The fire started in the basement of the Mannington mill.

The mill is a four-storey building used for storage. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire, which was still ongoing hours later, at 6.10pm.

By that time, the fire had spread from the basement to some areas of the roof.

Over 100 firefighters were tackling the blaze from fire stations across the county.

There were 25 pumps involved at the incident and residents and businesses were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

Around 100 homes in the in Lumb Lane, Manningham Lane and Grosvenor Road were evacuated to Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Bradford.
