Gas supplier turns up the heat on its competition

GAS supplier CNG has launched a campaign to light a fire under the industry as it looks to give customers, partners and suppliers more power.
The Harrogate business is enjoying strong growth and is now looking to make the most of its confidence and momentum to claim a greater market share.
CNG’s last accounts showed a £43.5m increase in turnover to £239.6m, as pre-tax profits grew five-fold to £8.3m. It is the largest independent shipper of gas, on behalf of 31 other businesses, which reaches 800,000 business and household customers, and in addition it supplies 50,000 SME customers.
It has now launched a strategy, Power Up, which will mean a new look and feel for the business as it targets one million customers this year.
CNG’s managing director Jacqui Hall wants the business to “celebrate” their difference.
“We’ve always been a bit different to other businesses in our industry and this new strategy is all about celebrating that,” she said. “Whilst the energy sector as a whole has a reputation for being complicated, expensive and clunky at best, our customers have told us that they appreciate our difference.
“Power Up will be a new ethos for our business, and it will run through everything we do – from our relationships with direct customers, brokers and even in our dealings throughout the industry. This idea of giving users greater control and transparency over their energy is an incredibly powerful one, and our ambition is to highlight that difference in order to help our business grow.”
