Cream of Yorkshire’s food and drink industry celebrated

SOME of the region’s most successful companies in the food and drink industry came together to claim their prizes at the deliciouslyorkshire awards 2010.
The winners were announced at a ceremony at Rudding Park in Harrogate, hosted by BBC Radio 2’s Nigel Barden.
The awards celebrate the elite of the region’s food and drink industry, showcasing local produce and commending the achievements of businesses and individuals from Yorkshire.
Anna’s Happy Trotters of Howden took home the deliciouslyorkshire Supreme Product award, sponsored by the Proudfoot Group, for its pork belly.
The deliciouslyorkshire Champion, sponsored by Rollits, was awarded to James Mackenzie, chef and proprietor at The Pipe & Glass Inn in Beverley for his work in
promoting the region’s food and drink industry.
New for 2010, the Export Award sponsored by UKTI, went to The Yorkshire Crisp Company in Sheffield, which demonstrated its determination to embrace global export markets.
ProperMaid in Huddersfield picked up the deliciouslyorkshire Outstanding Newcomer award sponsored by Montpelier Professional Ltd.
deliciouslyorkshire’s chief executive Jonathan Knight said: “A big congratulations to all of our winners and the shortlisted businesses for 2010.
“The standard of entries for the awards gets progressively higher year on year. It’s very encouraging to see businesses in the food, drink and hospitality sector going from strength to strength, especially in the current economic climate.”
