St Nick Awards celebrate work of turnaround sector

THE work carried out by Yorkshire’s turnaround and restructuring firms and professionals was celebrated at the annual St Nick Awards this week.
Hosted by turnaround fund Endless, the fifth annual awards were held at Aspire, attracted an audience of more than 350 people and raised more than £7,000 for charity.
Highlights from the evening saw Nigel Clark of Findel collect the award for Chief Restructuring Officer of the Year and Hunter Kelly of Ernst & Young crowned Living Legend of the Year. Turnaround Deal of the Year was the restructuring of Dyson Group which featured a cast of advisors from Deloitte, DLA Piper, Lloyds Banking Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Walker Morris.
A full gallery of photographs from the event will be added here later this morning.
Darren Forshaw, partner at Endless, said: “The turnaround profession receives little public recognition and these awards were started to address that matter. Many of those individuals nominated are helping rescue businesses and save jobs at this very difficult time.”
The awards were co-hosted by Mr Forshaw and David Parkin of TheBusinessDesk.com.
The money raised at the awards evening was for two charities – the Turnaround Foundation and Challenge66 which is raising money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and was launched by Yorkshire businessman Andy McMenemy who is seeking to run 66 “ultra” marathons of more than 30 miles each on consecutive days in the UK’s 66 cities next year.
