Region’s airports remain open despite big freeze

AIRPORTS in Yorkshire were open this morning but were warning of possible disruptions for passengers as freezing temperatures continue to affect the region.

Leeds Bradford, Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield and Humberside airports were all operating but warning that adverse weather conditions across the UK and Europe could lead to flight disruptions.

Several flights were cancelled at the three airports yesterday, although problems for travellers flying from this region have been light compared to chaotic scenes at the UK’s largest airport, Heathrow.

Thousands of Britons face a third day being stranded on the ground because of the weather at the London base.

Train services between London Kings Cross and Leeds are running at a reduced level today while commuters face delays on public transport around the region as snow and ice continue to cause problems.
