Reel Cinema and St Stephen’s Shopping Centre in Hull will be hosting a special event this Thursday to celebrate the first success stories of the award winning ‘Make £5 Blossom’ scheme.
St Stephen’s has been working in partnership with Kingston-upon-Hull City Council sponsoring the initiative, which is designed to help primary school children develop enterprise, entrepreneurship and business skills for the future, funded by St Stephen’s and the Young People’s Enterprise Forum.
Kingston-upon-Hull was specifically chosen to be the second area in the UK to take part in the project, which is being implemented in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
The Make £5 Blossom project works by giving a class of primary school children £5 each, who then work together with an appointed business mentor to develop their own enterprising idea to make a profit from their money.

YORK-based law firm Langleys is holding a mock trial to bring to the courtroom scenarios for business people including managers, directors and other key staff responsible for bringing or defending claims that arise including debt collectors.
The fictional proceedings held will highlight everything that a claimant or defendant needs to be aware of, including how to bring a claim against a debtor, how to defend a claim, the importance of terms and conditions, issues surrounding supply of defective goods, calculation of losses, director’s duties, lack of managerial authority, and liquidity problems.
The format of the event will include breakfast, followed by an introduction from the judge for the proceedings.
Langleys’ Dispute Resolution Team will then act out the case for the claimant and defendant and the cross examination before a coffee break and the closing arguments.

LAPICIDA Stone Production has won the exclusive rights to host the only European exhibition of stone pieces inspired by Palladio.
Supported by the Italian Government, the Knaresborough-based company beat off competition from sites in Moscow, Berlin and London to stage the event which will run from June for a year.
Designed and crafted by an Italian consortium the collection, which is exclusive to Lapicida, includes 27 pieces including a white limestone bath and shower tray, a round marble shower costing in excess of £50,000 and various wall and floor claddings, all of which feature the classic Palladio profile.
The pieces have been commissioned to celebrate the quincentenary of the birth of Andrea Palladio, a world famous stone cutter.
Born in Padua, Italy, in 1508, Palladio is regarded as the father of modern architecture and his work is still inspiring designers today.
Palladio’s most famous works include his facade for the Bascillica and a number of his works are protected as part of the World Heritage Site City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto.
