First indoor golf experience for city

GOLF enthusiasts can avoid the wind and rain which often lashes them on a course thanks to the opening of an indoor golf centre in Yorkshire.

Golf Cafe Bar Leeds will feature three PGA endorsed golf simulators, allowing users to play more than 35 courses from around the world, including St Andrews and Pebble Beach.

The new venture is expected to create at least 12 new jobs and is located at Blue Granary Wharf in Leeds city centre.

Managing director Wayne Parkinson said: “Leeds has a thriving golf community, but the weather is often far from perfect and business people do not always have the time for the outdoor game these days.

“Indoor golf centres make an important contribution to the game through the education of beginners, game improvement and club fitting.”

Mr Parkinson added that a mezzanine area at the cafe bar would be complimented by a further 500 sq ft of outdoor space by the end of this month.

Golf Café Bars has taken almost 3,500 sq ft of space on a 15 year lease at Blue Granary Wharf in a deal handled by commercial property specialists, Emsleys.

The cafe bar will be linked to the adjacent Granary Wharf development via a footbridge.
