Lawyers launch new IP specialist

ONE of the best known intellectual property lawyers in the country has left his role as the national head of Addleshaw Goddard’s IP group to launch his own firm in Yorkshire.
Richard Kempner has teamed up with fellow IP specialist Andy Robinson to create Kempner Robinson, a new law firm, which is being launched today and already has major brand names like Asda, BASF and Jet2.com as clients.
The Leeds-based firm brings together Mr Kempner and Stuart Jackson, former director of patent litigation at Addleshaw Goddard, with Mr Robinson and Jason Dainty, who were partners in niche Leeds-based law firm Robinsons which was founded five years ago.
Kempner Robinson will specialise in intellectual property including patents, trade marks, copyright and designs.
Mr Kempner said: “Companies and big brands are becoming increasingly conscious of costs but still demand the best advice. We believe there are huge revenue opportunities available to companies who fully exploit their intellectual property but very few businesses are capitalising on their intellectual assets at the moment. Clients need not only specialist legal advice, but also practical, commercial advice, coupled with the wisdom gained from experience. That is what Kempner Robinson will deliver.”
He added: “Our clients tell us that there is a market for a personal service from top specialists at a reasonable price. At Kempner Robinson we will offer clients a personalised service providing the absolute best-quality advice with a significant reduction in price on what they would have to pay a London firm.”
The firm already has several big name clients on its books including Jet2.com, supermarket giant ASDA and the world’s largest chemical company, BASF and e-Buyer among others.
Mr Robinson said: “The creation of Kempner Robinson is a great opportunity for us to grow a law firm dedicated to providing clients with a full range of services spanning all aspects of intellectual property law and commerce. Richard’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading intellectual property lawyers is outstanding and Kempner Robinson brings together some of the most experienced IP lawyers in the North and the UK.
“I am proud of what we have achieved at Robinsons having worked on some of the most significant IP cases in recent years and joining forces with Richard and Stuart will take us to a new level.”
The firm is currently working on a significant parallel import case in the courts on behalf of the two largest motorcycle importers and dealers in the UK in a dispute with Honda.
