Aston tops out hotel number three

Darlington-based Aston Hotels has completed the main building stages of its £5.7million third hotel on Sheffield Business Park, just off Junction 33.

Aston Sheffield/Rotherham Hotel and Conference Centre will open next April, employing 40 full and part time staff.

The UK's youngest hotel group held a topping out ceremony where operations director John Deighan and sales and marketing director Austen Scattergood sealed a time capsule containing up to the minute news coverage and local items. The capsule was fixed beneath the roof by Newcastle builder Metnor's divisional manager, Mick Roddam.

It has 78 en-suite rooms, each with a king sized bed and walk-in power shower. There are 12 additional executive bedrooms and three rooms catering for disabled guests. Aston offers free high speed Wi-fi internet access throughout the hotel and each guest and conference room has access to individually controlled comfort cooling and heating. Seven bespoke conference rooms cater for between two and 100 delegates.

Rebecca Wyatt, Sheffield Business Park manager, said: “Aston was very enthusiastic about locating on the Park. We have a wide range of occupiers representing a number of regional, national and international businesses and the presence of such a high quality hotel is a significant benefit for them. It further enhances the range of facilities we can offer as the region's largest business park.”

With a Brasserie and bar 59 for breakfasts, light snacks or dinner from the a la carte menu, Aston will be the perfect venue for business lunches and overnight stays. Aston Dumfries in South West Scotland and Aston Darlington in County Durham are already hugely popular locations, offering modestly priced premium accommodation with flexible meeting rooms.

Austen Scattergood explained:”Our Sheffield Hotel is tailor-made to meet the needs of business customers as well as holiday makers touring the Peak District. We are confident that our investment at Sheffield Business Park and in particular our location off M1 Junction 33 will appeal not only to locals but people on the move seeking a reliable and modern hotel at a sensible price.”
