Straight delivers recycling deal for 80,000 homes

YORKSHIRE-BASED group Straight today announced it has completed a new £400,000 contract to provide recycling equipment for 80,000 homes.

The Leeds business, which provides products including water butts, chewing gum bins and compost containers, said that it has delivered the contract for Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council.

The agreement, to supply seven-litre kitchen caddies and 23-litre kerbside caddies for food waste collection from 80,000 homes, was delivered in four phases.

Straight said that 60,000 homes have already received their containers and the remaining 20,000 homes are due to receive theirs from the council over the next few weeks.

The caddies, which are manufactured for Straight in Hull, are used to collect food waste from homes which is then processed at specialist local facilities rather than entering landfill. 

Revenue for the contract will be recognised in the group’s financial year to December 31, 2009.
