Strong Christmas trading figures for Nisa

NISA-TODAY’S, the UK’s largest buying group for independent retailers, said it achieved an 11.10% value increase in sales in December through its central distribution services.

The Scunthorpe-based member owned grocer passed the £1bn turnover mark in just nine months, an increase of £83m year on year.

Other December category highlights included a 14.40% value increase in confectionary, an 11.55% increase in ambient and a 9.94% rise in chilled.

The company reported a 9.13% value increase in its frozen category.

John Sharpe, managing director of central distribution trading and logistics, said: “Despite the bad weather, which made for challenging deliveries throughout December, Nisa has still achieved admirable trading figures for the month.

“The £1bn turnover comes just nine months into Nisa’s financial year and we are looking forward another year of record turnover.”
