Masternaut chief defends Apprentice’s email campaign

THE managing director of Yorkshire-based tracking company Masternaut Three X has hit back at people who criticised The Apprentice contestant Alex Epstein for sending out a mass marketing email promoting his services.

In the email, which was sent to hundreds of journalists and media professionals, Mr Epstein said he was “currently looking for opportunities to share some of my passion for enterprise, marketing and public relations”.

Mr Epstein, a former communications and marketing manager at Leeds-based Masternaut Three X, was fired from the last series of Lord Sugar’s hit TV show The Apprentice.

His promotional email generated dozens of replies and comments on social networking site Twitter from people annoyed that Mr Epstein had not hidden recipients’ email addresses from one another.

Mr Port refuted some of the comments made, including claims that Mr Epstein had been fired from Masternaut Three X.

Mr Port said: “Alex Epstein is an amazing communicator and marketing consultant. He has proved his success at Masternaut; he wasn’t fired he was given a sabbatical while The Apprentice was being filmed.

“He now consults with Masternaut and other companies. He is respectful hardworking and intelligent with a strong sense of belief.

“He promotes corporate and social responsibility and gives his own time to support charities. Don’t be fooled by TV and some poor acting; he is a star in my eyes.”

In the promotional email, Mr Epstein said: “During my time on The Apprentice I impressed and entertained the nation with my creative ideas, from devising names such as the Cuuli and Boozy Banger to working on one of the biggest product launches/mistakes the cleaning market has ever seen – Germinator!

“And that’s what makes me unique – I’m bold, full of personality, entertaining, and really do believe in learning from my mistakes.

“I’d like to pitch myself as someone who would be interested in opportunities within your publication.”

Mr Epstein said he was available to make comments on the next series of The Apprentice, could be used as an “agony uncle” and product reviewer.

He added: “Post Apprentice, I continue to work as a freelance marketing and PR consultant and have some of my own product launches in the pipeline.”
