ZENITH Vehicle Contracts, the UK's largest independent fleet management specialist, has been officially certified as carbon neutral.

The Leeds-based company has initiated a tree-planting programme across Yorkshire to offset its emissions following advice from environmental consultants Carbon Footprint.

Andrew Cope, Zenith's chief executive, said that the company was committed to further reductions in its carbon footprint and was looking to cut emissions by 30% per person over the next three years.

“This will be tough, given that the business is growing and we are having to travel more,” he said.

“But this is something we are serious about.”

Mr Cope said that Zenith was also working closely with its customers to help them to create environmentally-sound fleet policies today and for the future.

“One way to do this is by incentivising the driver to choose a greener vehicle than the one he or she otherwise might have considered,” he explained.

“The incentive option is often self-funding because a greener fleet generally costs less to run.”
