Cookson homes in demand

HUDDERSFIELD-BASED Cookson Homes has sold eight five-bedroom farmstead-style detached homes off plan for a total of £8m in just one month at its Whitley Willows development. Prices of the individual properties ranged from £860,000 to £1.75m.
Set within 12 acres of greenbelt in the village of Lepton, Whitley Willows' rural location is complemented by mature willow trees and a pond which will become home to a pair of swans rescued by the Yorkshire Swan Rescue Centre.
Commenting on the sales success, Cookson Homes' managing director Joe Cookson said: “People who have bought the homes have told us that they were initially bowled over by the beauty and accessibility of Whitley Willows' location. This was combined with the fact that no two properties are the same, so when it came to selling the plots we were able to discuss the requirements of potential purchasers and create a perfect match. We were always confident of being able to sell £1m plus homes at Whitley Willows because, despite the market, prime property always sells.”
Whitley Willows was previously home to a working textile mill and its grounds will feature a total of 14 five-bedroom detached homes with the remaining six houses priced from £860,000 to £1.25m.
All of the properties have landscaped gardens and a double or triple integral garage.
Three of the old textile mill buildings have also been sympathetically restored with traditional Yorkshire building materials to create 28 luxury one- and two-bedroom apartments priced from £150,000. Around 60 per cent of the development has been sold.
Established in 2006, Cookson Homes will have a turnover of £15m for the coming year.
